Deadlines for Artist Applications is April 1 and April 31

Birmingham's Loft District from 2nd Avenue North to Morris Avenue between 22nd and 25th Streets will be transformed into a vibrant arts district with visual artists within the first floor retail and loft space… Plus musicians, street performers, food and drink vendors. Free to the public, Artwalk attracts more than 10,000 people to downtown Birmingham to purchase unique artwork by established and emerging artists in a variety of media. Check out last year’s artists, artist hosts, map and more…

The Artists:

In 2007, more than 100 local and regional artists of all mediums moved into more than 40 businesses and lofts for Friday & Saturday. Paintings, ceramics, photographs, sculpture, jewelry and more – all for sale. Find the piece you’ve been looking for and 10 more you didn’t know you needed. Throughout the neighborhood you’ll find galleries and resident artists and see where the pioneers of the loft district live & work.

The Neighborhood:

Wear comfortable shoes and walk around the city's loft district. You'll have the opportunity to see inside loft residences, area businesses and galleries. Artwalk is located on historic Morris Avenue, 1st and 2nd Avenues North between 22nd and 25th Streets. Participating businesses and residents open their doors to the artists and public for this wonderful weekend of art.

Artwalk KidZone:

KidZone Located off of 24th Street between 1st & 2nd Aves N (behind Space One Eleven), Artwalk KidZone will take place Saturday ONLY, noon- 6 pm. Activities will take place on a fantastic and fun journey through a little art history.

In 2007, the KidZone was led by artists Lisa Michitti, Katherine Cooper, and Megan Marr and their assistants - activities included a Matisse story collage, Kandinsky music paintings, and Mondrian shape and line design.

Surrealism for kids included 3 fun activities about Dali, Giacometti, and Magritte. Patrons of all ages got hands on with three different collaborative murals in the styles of Jackson Pollock and Diego Rivera.

One mural will be featured at this year’s PREAMBLE auction!
