My current work interest lies in creating expressive portraits within a mundane moment or environment. I obsess with people; how they look, how they interact, how they feel and make me feel. Let’s face it: I’m a dreadful gossip, and in some ways my paintings become an extension of my drive to absorb what I see and experience about someone and then retell it.

I like to work between mediums, a rich and vibrant watercolor one day, a dark and glowing acrylic the next. I like to choose my substrates, materials and colors to relate feelings or capture memories that escape from my photo references and blend a bit closer to my romanticized recollections.

Today, my paintings are still very much self-absorbed. They are all deeply rooted in my own bond with my subject matter, and remain more than anything else a run of quiet hours for me to meditate through my own thoughts, learning both to let go and also not to forget. My hope is in sharing them publicly I finally complete this personal progression and that the pieces may take on a different story for someone else.
