I am Alley Bulka and I am a mosaic artist. Actually, I am Wacky Nanny Mosaics! I have been involved in the art of mosaics since 1997 and have tweaked my style in many ways over the years. I use all ceramic tile which is hand cut, each piece, nothing is precut. I usually use wood or ceramic as my “canvas” and each piece of the tile is applied with tile mastic and then grouted. Lately my style has evolved into using vintage ceramic figurines found at yard sales, antique and thrift stores. I use various parts of the figures in my mosaic pieces and find that it gives it a three dimensional effect. I have designed and completed two large murals; one is an outdoor bust stop in North Carolina and the other is at the indoor entrance to Shades Mountain Elementary school in Hoover. I also run Wacky Nanny Art Camp for kids in the summer and will be beginning my sixth summer this year. When not creating wonderful mosaics I am a nanny to several children in the Forest Park and English Village area. I live in Crestwood North with my four elderly dogs and several stray cats. I hope that my mosaics bring a smile to your face.
