A Huntsville native, Anna Alaniz relocated to Birmingham to attend the University of Montevallo.  She comes from a family of photographers and began learning about photography in high school.  Anna received her B.A. from Montevallo in art with a concentration in graphic design.  While also taking photography courses, her degree allowed her to explore many photographic techniques and perfect her own, digitally and on film.

Anna has a passion for capturing candid moments.  She developed in ballet and dance classes at a young age where she adopted the philosophy of Martha Graham: “All that is important is this one moment in movement.  Make the moment important, vital and worth living.  Do not let it slip away unnoticed and unused.”  Anna strives to capture the fleeting smiles of brides and babies, grandparents and teenagers.  She loves city lights and the life they represent, as well as the historic sites and the nostalgia they invoke.  Anna works primarily in digital photography using only natural lighting.
