Barbara has worked in several mediums for over 30 years. She began in oil as her mother also painted in oils. After a painting session, at the age of 10, using over 12 tubes of oil (her mother’s) it was suggested she try another medium. Later, learning that Winslow Homer was entirely self-taught she announced to her parents that she would become an artist. She holds a B.S., in the sciences fro the University of Alabama. Barbara has always been fascinated with the play of light on any surface, she strives for paintings that “make the viewer feel something”. She sold her first painting at the age of 15 and over the next 2 years had two public showings. She realized almost immediately that painting was an avocation and exhibition more a vocation, since her work has been almost exclusively for private collectors and charity. She has paintings in private collections in Europe, Canada, South Africa, and in eleven states in the U.S. Barbara had her first public showing in over 25 years in the fall of 2006.
