I never traveled as a kid.There were no family vacations with long hours in the car heading off to some far-away exotic place.When I got my driver's license and began exploring farther and farther from home, everything seemed unusual and extraordinary.Enigmatic traces of people both past and present became more obvious, and I discovered with wide-eyed amazement that the landscape was not quite as banal as I once believed. By documenting the exceptional traces which people have left upon the landscape, I encourage the viewer to make judgments about truth and reality and reexamine their own relationship with their immediate surroundings.

Cara Fuller and Woody, her 4x5 camera, live in Huntsville, Alabama, where she teaches photography at Alabama A&M University and works as a Digital Imaging Specialist for USA Sports Art, Inc.She received her MFA from Savannah College of Art and Design and originally hales from East Aurora, New York.
Materials/Technique
My photographs are made with a Tachihara 4x5 Cherry Field camera, yielding sheet film which I hand-process in a darkroom and then scan to be output digitally.I use only archival carbon pigment inks on professional-grade inkjet papers, and my prints range in size from 4” x 5” up to 40” x 50”
