Painting [Clanton, AL]

[Artwalk Location]

2309 1st Avenue North: Omni Studio Garage

Elizabeth Ann Byrd studied art at the University of Alabama in Birmingham in 1973, after graduating from high school in Clanton, Alabama, her family home.  After studying art for a year, she married, and spent the next 20 years living in Brazil, Mobile, Alabama, and Birmingham, raising a family and pursuing a career in banking.  She returned to school and received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Marketing from the University of Montevallo in 1997.

She and her husband, Albert, have been to London, Amsterdam, Paris and Los Angeles, as well as many other destinations.  Traveling and visiting museums throughout the European continent have inspired and influenced much of Elizabeth’s work. Rue Rampon Chambre Jaune was inspired in Paris and was created using an offset pallet knife instead of a brush with water based oils.  Courtyard at Chateau Pierre du Mont is a 3 ½ X 5 canvas painted with oil and a tiny brush, almost like painting with an eyelash.  Doorway to Montgomery is enamel painted on a double paned window.  The top half of the painting is painted on one side and the bottom half is on the other side, giving the painting a unique dimensional effect.
