Artist’s Statement:          I cannot not make it. But, you are not compelled to look at it. So if you engage with the object I made, we have connected. And, that is enough.

Method:                              Working from nature or archival documents, I develop an idea through drawings and mock-ups until I am satisfied with the composition. Then I render the final image either in oil paint or encaustic (melted beeswax and crystallized varnish), or a combination of the two.

                                                Texture is an important feature of most finished pieces. Frequently the final work is a combination of a constructed ground, such as an altarpiece or integral frame. Often work includes three dimensional objects, especially the encaustic.

Background:                      Trained at Memphis College of Art; Memphis State University BFA program with emphasis on Painting, Printmaking, and Art History. Works held in public, corporate and private collections in Georgia, Tennessee, Illinois, Texas, and Alabama.
