Inspired by music, travel and the arts, Joey’s paintings are an interpretation of personal experiences and emotion.  “Watching live music and traveling with my sketchbook are probably the most used tools in my creative process.” With his open mind for colors, subjects and people Joey brings a common image to life which shows in every stroke and highlight that is put on canvas.

An architect by education, Joey credits a summer abroad trip to Norway in 1995 and a painting seminar with renowned watercolor artist David Braly for developing a true love for painting and for refining the techniques and process that Joey uses to create his art.

Joey now resides in Hoover, Alabama with his wife Kristin and 18 month old daughter Hannah Grace.  You will find Joey’s acrylic on canvas paintings are a reflection and expression of visual, audible and emotional stimuli around him.  Observers often say they “can hear the music and see the movement” in Joey’s paintings.  When you view Joey’s art you cannot help but have a spark of emotion and relation to his painted subjects.
