My name is Karen LeAnn Jones. I was born and raised in Anderson, IN, but I now reside with my husband and four children in Birmingham, AL

I’ve drawn since I was little, usually female forms. I have seen the consistent use of the female character as a canvas to portray profound meanings throughout art history.

I studied at Herron Art School for a time but spent most of my college years at Orel Roberts University where I won best of show. I have worked in oils, acrylic, watercolor, pencils, chalk, clay, bronze, iron, wood, and am now drawing violins with ink.

I usually stick to the same themes in my works of various mediums: women, children, and the violin. I believe I do input a deeper meaning and demand for a thoughtful study into my pieces.

My concept is “great art in, great art out.” In this stance, I feed on the classics from every era. This usually gives me the inspiration I need to confidently express my ideas.

The violin drawings I am submitting are simply ink on paper. I use some crosshatching and ink techniques but only as they benefit my overall creative idea.
