Born in the small mining town of Butte, Montana, I grew up spending my summers in the rustic Montana woodlands while attending school in Arizona for the remainder of the year. I was introduced to and fell in love with the art of hand sculpting in high school art class where I began to learn basic techniques related to both sculpting and wheel thrown pottery.

A risk taker at heart, I enjoy creating pieces that aren’t predictable. Many times an idea for a new piece arrives unexpectedly during conversations with my son.  I like growing an idea, and subsequently a concrete piece of art, out of special moment we shared together.  My goal is then to share that feeling with my audience.  I believe that art should evoke emotions and what better one than laughter. 

I currently reside in Alabaster, Alabama with my husband, Jim, and son, Jack. I work out of my home which provides me with more flexibility and time with my son.

I use stoneware clay in different colors and grogs.  I combine coil and slab methods.  After bisque firing I apply a mixture of slips, stains, and glazes.  I then fire to cone 5.  I also use cold finishes such as Indian ink, acrylics, gold leafing, and pastels to achieve the desired look.
