A self-taught street photographer specializing in color images of working-class, industrial, and rural areas of Alabama. Uses a 35 mm film camera and a digital camera. His pictures are exhibited at Lyda Rose Gallery (Homewood) and Bare Hands Gallery (Birmingham). He has also shown at area art festivals: Kentuck, Art Walk, Bluff Park, and Magic City Art Connection. Included in the State Council on the Arts exhibit “Alabama Originals: A Sense of Place.” The Birmingham Weekly says his photos “may convince you that color and hue were invented in the industrial neighborhoods of Birmingham and Bessemer. ” (12/15/05) The Birmingham News says his pictures are “… architectural studies rich in color and texture. Old buildings acquire character, and Gruenberg captures their unique nature in clear and precise photographs that approach abstraction.”(12/25/05).
