I make jewelry incorporating paper clips and semi-precious stones, precious metals, crystals and blown and cut glass beads. My jewelry features the inherent beauty of industrial design and the quirky combination of that design and more precious materials. Some of my pieces are made of disassembled clips, some of the clips that I have wired together to make new shapes, and some of the clips with stones and beads woven through them with wire. Some pieces shout out their industrial origins, but in many pieces those origins are almost invisible, enabling a secondary pleasure for owners and viewers. This past year I have made necklaces that display circular clips as part of their clasps. I love color as well as shape, and I collect materials from across the country when I travel. Recently, I have been working with many shades of jade, with pearls, and with reclaimed copper. I have been making jewelry for thirty years; but the paper clip jewelry is relatively recent and always evolving. My jewelry is on display at Naked Art Gallery in Birmingham.
