Rebecca Barton is a second year art student attending the University of Alabama at Birmingham and has recently been admitted to the Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree program at the School of The Art Institute of Chicago, where she plans to build her career and knowledge in aesthetic and form. Nearly everything she incorporates into her works is found; whether an old photo uncovered on the sidewalk or actual castings of objects discovered in local rummage shops. These mixed media pieces she creates are intended to be foreign to the individual viewer, yet also intimate. As people are distinguished by their experiences, she intends to draw them out through her works by having her audience relate directly to her compositions and characters. Rebecca experiments widely in material, branching from paper and thread to iron and bronze. Through this experimentation she allows herself to reach a different environment for her ideology.
