I think the heart of any creation lies in a good story. From drawings on paper and board to more painterly offerings on wood and canvas, I create work with an illustrator's eye for whimsy and entertainment. I studied Illustration at Pratt Institute in Brooklyn, earning my BFA in 2004, and illustrated several stories for children while there. More recently, I have taught elementary school art, exhibited at a gallery in Tuscaloosa, and had my work published on the cover of a young adult novel from a small press. My work is acrylic, colored pencil, and watercolor on canvas, paper, and wood. I draw inspiration from fairy tales, dreams, nightmares, and the world around me. “George” and “Keep it to yourself” are painted in acrylic and are both part of an ongoing series entitled Small Monsters, and “Way after Mucha” is part of a series of modern and fantasy portraits in a style that echoes 1920's illustrator Alphonse Mucha.
