June, 2007

Artwalk Friends,

It is hard to believe June is here and almost gone! There is much to do and see and experience in the Magic City this summer and I’ve listed a few dates below for your calendars… starting with a Brewhaha this Saturday. Also, check out birminghamartwalk.org in the next few weeks as we launch a new design, add 2007 artists, and implement more interactive tools!

Joy Myers, Artwalk Director

Artwalk Brewhaha

This Saturday, July 23, Starbucks in Southside will host Birmingham photographer Lane Finch and a special reading by THE2NDHAND. Join us upstairs at 7 pm for an art filled evening. Finch’s photography emphasizes the details and vibrant color of nature, featuring subjects from around the world. The special reading will feature Brad Vice, author of "The Bear Bryant Funeral Train,” Birmingham-based poet Jim Murphy, and Birmingham-based fiction writer and THE2NDHAND editor Todd Dills.

Artwalk @ Pepper Place Farmer’s Market

Beginning July 14, Artwalk will host a different artist at Pepper Place Farmer’s Market in Lakeview each Saturday leading up to the signature show in September. Take time to preview some of the 2007 artists when you shop for local produce. Artists: To Be Announced.

Artwalk Preamble Party and Art Auction

Mark your calendars for Thursday, August 9, as Birmingham Artwalk hosts its annual fundraiser featuring food, music and fantastic art by this year’s accepted artists. It’s always a fun event, and 2007 will be no exception. Once again, Preamble will introduce you to another great space in the loft district… Details coming soon!!

Artwalk 2007

On September 7-8, Birmingham Artwalk will host its 6th annual juried art show. Free to the public, this event draws thousands of patrons to downtown Birmingham to walk the streets of the loft district. Purchase visual art from more than 100 artists, and enjoy music, street performers and art activities.
