I am a graduate of the University of Montevallo where I received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in both painting and drawing. My work includes techniques from both mediums but I consider them to be drawings. I use materials such as coffee, water soluble pencils, pens, crayons, markers, colored pencils, graphite, and thread on wood or paper. When working with colored pencils on wood, I build up the layers until the colors become opaque and resemble a painting. I use the same technique with water soluble pencils on paper but leave them less opaque to give them a lighter feel. Much of my work is inspired by nature and deals with life, death, and transformation.
